NBC and Bryan Fuller To Remake ‘The Munsters’

NBC is developing a remake of “The Munsters” with “Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller. Fuller who’s been acting like the show runner, first tried to get the network to approve of a remake of the 1960s sitcom last year.

The studio wasn’t interested then, but times have changed as NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt is said to have renewed interest in the project and has asked Fuller to modify his script and to resubmit.

The wildly popular “The Munsters,” originally ran from 1964 to 1966 and followed the home life of a family of classic monsters that includes Dracula, Frankenstein, the Wolfman and more. The series was a satire of both traditional monster movies and popular family entertainment of the era, like “The Addams Family.”

Eventually “The Munsters” grew in popularity through syndication and lead to a spin-off series, as well as several films, including one with a theatrical release.
