NBC’s ‘Munsters’ Reboot Renamed To ‘Mockingbird Lane’

Last month NBC announced their plans to reboot the classic ’60s horror sitcom “The Munsters,” and today they’ve announced that it will have a new title.

According to TV Line, the pilot title has been changed from “The Munsters” to “Mockingbird Lane.” For those familiar with the original series, it ought to ring a bell as it was the address to their very iconic Victorian house located at 1313 Mockingbird Lane.

The new series will be set in modern day, and the one-hour drama-comedy pilot is described as being “visually spectacular.” It’s been described as a a blend of True Blood and Modern Family. “Pushing Daisies” creator Bryan Fuller and Bryan Singer are stewarding the show. Casting is currently underway.

Personally I’m not liking the name change. It makes no sense and the studio is effectively doing away with the Munster brand which is franchise-able gold. It’s a questionable decision at best and haphazardly changes what may be the biggest selling point and pull to this new series.
