Netflix has announced that Alicia Silverstone (Clueless) and Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains) have just been cast in the streaming network’s new reboot of The Babysitters Club. Along with a series of books by author Ann M. Martin, the franchise has also previously spawned an HBO series back in 1990 and a theatrically released film in 1995 starring Rachel Leigh Cook.
According to the release from Netflix, Silverstone will play Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, mom of Baby-Sitters Club ringleader Kristy Thomas and the love interest of Feuerstein’s character, Watson Brewer.
While no major details from the new series have been released, we do know that it will center on updated versions of the book series’ main characters, Kristy Thomas, Mary Anne Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer
