Are you ready for Resident Evil Overload? Along with the new release of Resident Evil 2 from Capcom and the news that a reboot of the film series (which ran for 6 movies) is in the works, we are now getting reports that a TV series adaptation of the show is in the works for Netflix.
According to Deadline, “the drama series will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. While the project is in early stages, the series is expected to incorporate all of Resident Evil’s signature elements, including action sequences and ‘easter eggs.’”
Working to make the show happen with Netflix is Constantin films, the same company who made the last 6 Resident Evil films and is making the upcoming reboot. As to whether the new series and movie will exist in the same film universe is yet to be seen, but it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the news of the two nearly concurrent projects is the launch of a Resident Evil cinematic universe, or a REverse, perhaps.
