Netflix’s ‘Cowboy Bebop’ Casts John Cho As Spike Spiegel

A few months ago, we heard rumblings that Netflix was looking to make a live-action reboot of the classic Anime/ Manga, Cowboy Bebop. Today news has come down that it’s not only happening but that they’ve cast Star Trek/ Harold and Kumar star John Cho as Spike Spiegel.

Joining Cho in the new series are Mustafa Shakir, Daniella Pineda, and Alex Hassell. Shakir will be taking on the role of Jet Black and Pineda has been cast as Faye Valentine. Meanwhile, Hassell will be playing Vicious, the series’ antagonist.

I’m not sure Cho is the actor I’d picture in the role of Spike, but Hugh Jackman wasn’t who I pictured as Wolverine and look how that turned out. Either way, Netflix has a lot to prove when it comes to Anime adaptations, especially after Deathnote. Let’s hope they get this one right.
