On the surface, this sounds like it might be the most preposterous story ever conceived for any of the Michael Bay TF movies, but there’s something about it that makes me wonder if it might actually work. Seriously though. You can pretty much bet money that Transformers: The Last Knight isn’t going to be a good movie. It’s just that there is something so weird about the direction they are taking the story, that it could be strange enough to find redeeming.
The big news for the trailer is that they do a lot of world building. We get to see a lot more of this post apocalyptic reality. We see where Mark Whalberg is and how the young girl fits in. We also find out that most of the Transformers seem to be living under ground in a junkyard. Yes, we do have a semi-humorous moment in the film with Grimlock, but I think the big takeaway here is BABY DINOBOTS!
The Last Knight shatters the core myths of the Transformers franchise, and redefines what it means to be a hero. Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance: Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg); Bumblebee; an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins); and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock).
