The live-action remake of Aladdin is drawing closer and closer to its release and Disney has now started releasing clips of some of the iconic musical scenes from the film. Today we got a look at Will Smith singing ‘Prince Ali.’ It has me feeling like this is going to be a generational release. In the same way that people who grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy look at the prequels as trash, those of us who grew up with Robin Williams’ version of the Genie is never going to be able to give Will Smith a fair shake. That’s ok though. There’s a whole generation of people who love the prequels and there will probably be a ton of kids who love this version of Aladdin.
We’ll know what fans really think when Aladdin hits theaters on May 24th.
A thrilling and vibrant live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated classic, “Aladdin” is the exciting tale of the charming street rat Aladdin, the courageous and self-determined Princess Jasmine and the Genie who may be the key to their future. Directed by Guy Ritchie, who brings his singular flair for fast-paced, visceral action to the fictitious port city of Agrabah, “Aladdin” is written by John August and Ritchie based on Disney’s “Aladdin.” The film stars Will Smith as the Genie; Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar; Navid Negahban as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad as Dalia; Billy Magnussen as Prince Anders; and Numan Acar as Hakim.
