When The CW’s Batwoman returns for a second season, Ruby Rose’s Kate Kane will be gone and Javicia Leslie will be dawning the cape and cowl as the new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder. Now the real question is whether or not fans will show up. As it is, season 1 of the show was not exactly a ratings powerhouse, but with the additional loss of Supergirl this season, The CW needs to have a female-led hero series in place.
The new season does have some interesting sounding story arcs, with Hush impersonating Bruce Wayne and a new villain, Safiyah, setting her sights on the city for revenge for an as of yet undetermined reason.
Would it have been better to just end the show after the loss of Rose, or should they have just re-cast her? Either way, completely changing out your lead actor and character after one season is a bold move. It will just be interesting to see whether it is bold enough to save the show.
A new beginning for Gotham. Season 2 premieres Sunday, January 17! Stream next day free only on The CW
