New Clips Released For Viggo Mortensen’s “The Road”

Viggo Mortensen looks like he’ll be giving another dramatic performance on par with “A Brief History of Violence” in this new movie, “The Road.” The stark, post-apocalyptic feel of these clips lays the groundwork for a film that will not only be gripping, but possibly heartbreaking as well.

A father and his son walk alone through burned America. Nothing moves in the ravaged landscape save the ash on the wind and water. It is cold enough to crack stones, and, when the snow falls it is gray. The sky is dark. Their destination is the warmer south, although they don’t know what, if anything, awaits them there. They have nothing: just a pistol to defend themselves against the lawless cannibalistic bands that stalk the road, the clothes they are wearing, a rusting shopping cart of scavenged food–and each other.

Viggo Mortensen discovers that the basement they were planning on using for hiding was already occupied by starving humans.

The wife (Charlize Theron) explains to the man (Viggo Mortensen) that those hunting them will eventually catch up to them and kill them.

The man (Viggo Mortensen) discusses sons with an old man (Robert Duvall) he meets on the road. The old man is happy to see a child still exists.

The man (Viggo Mortensen) encounters a gang and is forced to negotiate with their leader (Garret Dillahunt).

The man (Viggo Mortensen) and his son find a cache of food.
