One of the cool things about having a website like this is when we are not only able to bring you the regular news, but we are also able to give a little bit of a leg up to people working hard to make it to the next level in the industry.
That brings us to Love and Hostages, a new indie film that looks like it could be something pretty special. Check out the details below and then maybe even help them reach their goal.
LOCAL INDIE PRODUCERS TAKE A FRESH APPROACH TO THEIR KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN, ATTEMPTING TO FUND THEIR FEATURE FILM “LOVE AND HOSTAGES”
Miami, FL- Penilican Pictures (Producer/Director David Vargas) and Phoenixfire Films (Producer/Writer-Javier Mayol) are proud to announce the romantic comedy feature film “Love and Hostages” and the launching of their Kickstarter.com campaign.
Kickstarter is a popular online resource to help local artists like Mr. Vargas and Mr. Mayol finance their projects. Anyone who believes in the project, has the opportunity to pitch in with the funding process and are promised a gift when the project has been completed. Kickstarter helped bring the popular Veronica Mars series to theaters. In addition to engaging fans via social media, they have partnered up with local filmmaker/bar owner, Michael McLaren, to hold a one of a kind Kickstarter event. Michael has worked in the local film industry for over 20 years, but recently took over “Sharkey’s Bar,” and has opened its doors to support local and passionate filmmakers like David and Javier.
“Love and Hostages” tells the story of Michael and Ava, two strangers with conflicting personalities, who meet at a bar and drink more than they can handle. They awaken the next morning in the same bed, only to realize they will be trapped together for an entire day due to a police lock-down on the building.
