The remake train keeps on rolling and its back to the 80’s for the latest reason not to go to the movies any time soon. New Line Cinema is turning MacGuyver into a feature film.
The movie, which doesn’t have a writer or director attached to it as of right now, is being directed by Raffaella De Laurentiis, daughter of Dino De Laurentiis. Dino De Laurentiis is exec producing.
What gets me right there is that Dino De Laurentiis has had his hands on some the best movies of all time. Serpico, Death Wish, The Conan films, Army of Darkness, Flash Gordon, Dune… Why would he put any energy towards what is clearly just a quick studio money grab that at best will probably suck and at worst will sour a generation on what was a pretty cool show.
Then there’s the the big question… Who will play Macguyver? Will it be Richard dean Anderson? He’s still got the chops for it, but I’m sure there’s some producer somewhere who just did a focus group that says kids today want a younger look so Anderson will probably get a cameo and one of the Jonas Brothers will probably get the role.
