EW is reporting that the upcoming ABC Muppets series is going to be aiming at a slightly older audience than the recent films. Thought the Muppets have always been written for both adults and children, this time it will definitely focus on the latter.
As previously reported online, the new show will follow the Muppets’ personal lives, and relationships behind the scenes of the launch of a new Muppet Show. Showrunners Bill Prady (Big Bang Theory) and Bob Kushell (Anger Management), say that the show will be shot in a mock-documentary style, like Arrested Development and The Office and will have a feel similar to 30 Rock. Oddly enough, there doesn’t seem to be any mention of it feeling like The Muppets…
Here’s the show’s Log Line:
“The Muppets return to prime time with a contemporary, documentary-style show that—for the first time ever—will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, break-ups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires; a more adult Muppet show, for kids of all ages.”
…So, is this The Muppets or Meet the Feebles?
