It’s a pretty safe bet that Pixar movies are going to make you cry, but they rarely are so open about it so early in the marketing. Just a short while ago, we got the new trailer for the Disney/Pixar film Onward, starring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Octavia Spencer, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. While the film is sure to be packed with tons of laughs and adventure, it is a story of loss. When we meet the two brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, they are being given a gift – the chance to spend one day with their dead father, whom Ian was too young to remember when he had died. When the spell to bring him back for a day goes wrong, the brothers must go on a quest to fix it or lose out on the chance to ever see their dad again. They should just start handing out tissue packets with popcorn for these movies…
Set in a suburban fantasy world, “Onward” introduces two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot (voices of Tom Holland and Chris Pratt), who embark on an extraordinary quest to discover if there is still a little magic left out there. Also featuring the voice of Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Ian and Barley’s mom, Laurel Lightfoot, and Octavia Spencer as the voice of the Manticore, Pixar Animation Studios’ all-new original feature film is directed by Dan Scanlon and produced by Kori Rae—the team behind “Monsters University.”
