BBC America has just officially confirmed that filming for the forthcoming new series of “Doctor Who” starring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will be taking place in America. News was officially confirmed via Twitter while the BBC News Website provided more details.
The first two episodes of the new series will be set in America in a desert in Utah during the 1960s – with filming taking place in America itself. The BBC News Website has also added that Alex Kingston is set to reprise her role of River Song for the two-part opening story written by showrunner Steven Moffat.
This won’t be the first time that “Doctor Who” has set scenes in America or filmed in America as their Twitter feed inaccurately declared. As ATV Networks points out, “The two-part season three story Daleks in Manhattan/Evolution of the Daleks was set in 1930s New York. While the majority of the two-parter was filmed in Wales ‘pick-up’ shots were filmed in New York but the brief filming in the city did not involve David Tennant or Freema Agyeman.”
