The other day, we got our first poster for the all-female spin-off of the Ocean’s 11 franchse, starring Sandra Bullock, Kate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and Richard Armitage. Today, the first teaser trailer has come our way, with a promise of the first full trailer on Tuesday.
The hope of this film is two-fold. First, WB would love to launch a new franchise based on the Ocean’s property. Secondly, they hope to create something good enough that it doesn’t get lumped in with Ghostbusters 2016. One thing it does to help on the latter is to make sure we know we are in the same world. Sandra Bullock is the sister of George Clooney’s Danny Ocean, and we can see a shot in the trailer of her in front of what looks like Danny’s grave. Does this mean he’s dead? I wouldn’t count on it. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some sort of cameo before the film is out. After all, what better way to build a new franchise than to promise an eventual all-star team-up!
