New Trailer For Amazon Prime’s Comic Adaptation Of ‘The Boys’

Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s The Boys is a comic book series that I never thought would be adapted to live action, but I’m starting to get really excited about the fact that it did. If you aren’t familiar with the series, the 5-second summary is that there’s a team of superhero vigilantes who police the world of superheroes to make sure they aren’t abusing their powers and the people they are sworn to protect.

The new series is coming to Amazon prime in all the gritty detail it deserves with help from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg who have already proven themselves with their Preacher series on AMC. The show is being exec produced and written with Supernatural’s Eric Kripke and the pilot was directed by Dan Trachtenberg. The cast for the show is nothing to sneeze at either with Karl Urban, Karen Fukuhara, Laz Alonso, Tomer Kapon, Anthony Starr, Dominique McElligott, Jesse T. Usher, Chance Crawford, Simon Pegg and Jack Quaid. Sadly, there’s no word on when the show will air, but we know it will be sometime this year.

In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes. THE BOYS is scheduled for a 2019 release.
