It’s going to be a while before we see James Gunn back in the director’s chair for Suicide Squad 2, but in the meantime, it looks like we are going to be getting a treat with his latest production, Brightburn. Written by his brothers Mark Gunn and Brian Gunn and directed by David Yarovesky, the film gives us a dark take on what would have happened if someone like Superman came to Earth without the purest of hearts.
The film features Elizabeth Banks as a mother who finds an alien child in the woods after his spaceship crashes to earth. Unfortunately, the boy (Jackson A. Dunn), is no Clark Kent. David Denman, Gregory Allen Williams, Matt Jones, Meredith Hagner, and Steve Agee round out the cast for Brightburn. The film opens on May 24th.
What if a child from another world crash-landed on Earth, but instead of becoming a hero to mankind, he proved to be something far more sinister?
With Brightburn, the visionary filmmaker of Guardians of the Galaxy and Slither presents a startling, subversive take on a radical new genre: superhero horror.
