Dredd 3D comes out next month. I’m still not sure if it will be a huge box-office success, but it will definitely be a cult hit based on the early reviews.
Today we’ve got the first TV spot from Karl Urban’s take on the classic 2000AD character as well as the launch of a viral site called “Dredd Report.”
The site plays off the popular online news site, drudgereport.com. I’m not really sure what they are trying to do because they are mixing in fictional content with real links to other sites and legitimate news stories. There are a couple cool fake PSA type ads sprinkled through the site, but not much else.
Dredd 3D opens in theaters on September 21st.
Official Synopsis:
The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One–a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge–a dangerous drug epidemic that has users of “Slo-Mo” experiencing reality at a fraction of its normal speed.
