Paramount had originally announced that Transformers 3 would be released on July 1, 2011. However, director Michael Bay had publicly announced that it was impossible for him to be involved with the movie if it was released any time prior to 2012.
With a possible change of heart from Paramount, it now appears that the 2011 release date might be pushed back to 2012 in order to accommodate Bay.
Via Michael Bay’s official website:
Spoke to Michael today and he had a little update on his future projects. He will be meeting later this week with Steven Spielberg, and Ehren Kruger to discuss ideas for Transformers 3. By the end of the week he should have an idea if Transformers 3 will hit your local cineplex in the summer of 2011 or 2012.
Like the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it. Paramount has a cash cow of a franchise in Transformers and they’d be smart not to jeopardized it in anyway. Not especially if Michael Bay has expressed interest in continuing to helm the third Transformers installment. It’s not even a question of who’ll budge first. We believe Paramount will push back the release date or try to find some compromise. More on this as it develops.
