With the success of “Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs,” the next big thing in 3D digital animation From Fox is set to be “Rio.” And Neil Patrick Harris and Anne Hathaway are both in negotiations for voice duties. Director Carlos Saldanha will direct one again.
While “Rio” may sound like a fascinating story about Hathaway sprawled out on a hot sandy beach, it’s really about a “nerdy mccaw” who escapes from his cage in Minnesota and heads south for some R&R. It’s our guess that NPH, who also provided a voice for “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,” will be providing the voice for the “nerdy mccaw.”
Rio is aiming for an April 2011 release. More information as it develops.
