For fans who were less than impressed with the upgraded Daleks in their debut in “Doctor Who’s” fifth series episode “Victory of the Daleks,” they should be happy to learn that they are not replacing the classic-looking Daleks that have appeared appeared previously in the Dr. Who mytho.
According to showrunner Steven Moffat, there will be a Dalek hierachy:
“The fact is, we’re not going to lose the old Daleks. We’re keeping them. They’re coming back. We’ll just use them all at once, and have different ranks. All I’ve done is give the Daleks an officer class.”
Each Daleks are ranked and designed by color: Drone (red), Scientist (orange), Eternal (yellow), Strategist (blue), and Supreme (white). Phew, this is certainly good news, as nothing tops the classic Russell T. Davies era Daleks.
The new Daleks are set to return in the final two episodes.
