Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures have announced today that the studio has officially locked down the “The Hangover’s” three main actors. Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms are all now officially on board to star in the sequel to the surprise hit comedy of 2009 which will begin filming in October.
The three main actors made no more than $300,000 for the first movie. But to tie them up for the sequel the studio had been in negotiations with them for the past six months and according to Deadline Hollywood, each actor will now make around $5 million each against 4% of first dollar gross.
Because no one anticipated the movie to be such a hit and none of the actors were tied down to any future Hangover films. As a result, they now have to pay large and handsomely as the proverbial ball is now in the actors court.
Todd Phillips, the director and producer of the first film is also set to return. This time around he will make around $10 million dollars against 10% verse giving up his upfront fee for the first movie in exchange for more than 15% of the films overall revenue.
“The Hangover” cost just $34 million to make and ended up grossing over $467 million. You can expect “The Hangover 2” to debut during Memorial Day weekend in 2011.
