Person of Interest is a really unique and gutsy show. Admittedly, I dropped out of watching it after the first couple episodes of season 1, but when I picked it back up in Season 3, I found a show that was not only completely different, but that was tackling some pretty big issues in a way that you don’t generally get to see in the procedurals that fill the network schedule.
What first started as a show about a guy who created an AI system that could help him predict crime, and the PTSD suffering ex-soldier whom he had tapped to help him play guardian angel to any potential victims, had evolved into an ethical debate about the power behind AI, and a battle between different forces to control it themselves so they can reshape the world order as they saw fit. It’s a show that’s not afraid to bring in laughs at some of the darkest moments, and is willing to kill off major characters. They’ve created a world that doesn’t seem to have a silver lining at this point, and things are only getting darker. Honestly, I’m bummed to see that it will be coming to an end after these last 13 episodes.
Along with the story itself, the show is packed with a stellar cast that includes Michael Emerson (LOST), Jim Caviezel (He was Jesus in The Passion of the Christ), Amy Acker (Angel, Joss Whedon’s Much Ado About Nothing), Sarah Shahi (The L Word), and Kevin Chapman (Mystic River).
Season 5 is set to premier on Tuesday, May 3rd at 10 p.m., with subsequent episodes airing Mondays at 10 p.m. (starting May 9th) and continuing on Tuesdays, and so forth. The season finale has been set for Tuesday, June 21.
