PIXAR Releases New ‘Coco’ Trailer

Pixar/ Disney is laying on the marketing offensive for Coco, their Day Of The Dead film that makes me wish more people watched Guillermo Del Toro’s Book of Life. The new trailer gives us a little more story, but still manages to confuse people when it comes to marketing the film musically. One of the things that worked so well for Moana was the influence that the culture played in the film’s soundtrack. Meanwhile, the last trailer for Coco, a movie about a Mexican boy who wants to be a musician, was set against the music of British pop group, The Verve Pipe. While I don’t recognize the song that’s in this trailer, it definitely doesn’t seem to fit the vibe of the movie. Look, I get it. The people who make the trailer are different than the people who make the film. That said, it seems like music is a big part of this movie, so it might be a good idea to start showing some of it off in the thing you use to get people interested in said movie.

Despite his family s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. In theaters November 22nd.
