With half of the world seemingly panicked about if a new virus is going to kill them, and whether it is possible to own enough toilet paper to keep themselves healthy, it seems kind of odd that Disney is releasing a movie about what happens to your soul after death. However, that’s where we are. Disney and Pixar didn’t know the world would be where it is when they started making this film. They just new that they wanted to make another movie that would make their audiences cry.
Soul stars Jamie Foxx, Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs with music by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as well as new jazz music by Jon Batiste. Soul opens in theaters June 19, 2020.
Joe Gardner is a middle-school band teacher who gets the chance of a lifetime to play at the best jazz club in town. But one small misstep takes him from the streets of New York City to The Great Before – a fantastical place where new souls get their personalities, quirks and interests before they go to Earth. Determined to return to his life, Joe teams up with a precocious soul, 22, who has never understood the appeal of the human experience. As Joe desperately tries to show 22 what’s great about living, he may just discover the answers to some of life’s most important questions.
