With a weekend grossing of $20 million, it only makes sense that ABC has green lit the process of turning the story of “The Time Traveler’s Wife” into a weekly television series.
According The Wrap, ABC has announced that they will be working with “Friends” creator Marta Kauffman and Warner Bros to adapt the novel/film into a television series beginning with a pilot.
“The Time Traveler’s Wife” which is based on a bestselling novel published in 2003 by author Audrey Niffenegger tells the story of Henry and Clare, whose relationship becomes complicated due to Henry’s abnormal gene causing him to spontaneously travel through time.
“The Time Traveler’s Wife” film which opened last weekend stars Eric Bana as Henry and Rachel McAdams as his wife Clare.
Reportedly, ABC has been talking about adapting the story into a television series for years now, believing that the complex plot of the novel which spans through several century will work effectively as a series format.
