‘Preadators’ Screenwriters Hired To Adapt ‘Masters of the Universe’

The screenwriting duo of Mike Finch and Alex Litvak who penned the upcoming Predator reboot, have been hired to write Columbia’s much troubled adaptation of “Masters of the Universe.”

This is the first news of sorts from Columbia after “Mattel and Warner Bros. parted ways after the sides couldn’t agree on a creative vision.” Ultimately, Mattel has final approval over the story.

“Masters of the Universe” is an animated TV series from the ’80s based on the Mattel toyline about a Prince named Adam who wields the magical sword of Grayskull that can transform him into the heroic warrior named He-Man. Along side his allies — Battle Cat, Man-at-Arms, Orko, and Teela — He-Man defends their homeworld Eternia from the evil forces of Skeletor.

According to reports, Finch and Litvak will attempt to find a balance while respecting the characters. Most likely this probably means the movie will take place in Eternia unlike the original live-action He-Man movie where he’s zapped into modern times.
