The other day, a story popped up that Quentin Tarantino had partnered up with JJ Abrams to pitch his take on a Star Trek film. While a lot of fans were drooling at the chance of seeing a Tarantino science fiction film, many were worried that the studio would water down his style and not let him run as free as he has in his original films. If you were one of the worried, you can breathe a sigh of relief.
Deadline is now reporting that the film has been officially greenlit and it has already been agreed upon that it will be rated R, a first for the franchise. According to the report, the film is also very close to landing The Revenant writer Mark L. Smith to handle the script.
