Remake Of ‘The Secret Of NIMH’ In The Works

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Neil Burger, who wrote “The Illusionist” and is currently working on “The Bride of Frankenstein,” may next turn his attention to re-adapting “The Secret of NIMH.”

NIMH which stands for (National Institute of Mental Health), is a story of super-intelligent lab rats on the run from human exterminators. It originally came out in 1982 as an animated feature and followed up with a sequel in 1998 called “The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue.” Clearly there is built-in franchise potential and with CGI rodents all the rage now in Hollywood (G-Force, Alvin and the Chipmunks), it makes sense that a NIMH reboot is in the works.

Based off a novel Robert C O’Brien’s Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, the original tale by Don Bluth was not entirely faithful to the book (Mrs Frisby’s name was changed to Brisby). So for fans of the novel, they can expect this new adaptation to hopefully rectify that situation.
