Ricky Gervais To Guest Star On US Version Of ‘The Office’

Ricky Gervais, the creator and star of the British show which inspired the NBC series “The Office,” will reprise his role as David Brent when he checks in with Michael Scott in next week’s must watch episode.

Originally producers had no interest in bringing Gervais into the the world of Dunder-Miffilin, but “Ricky had wanted to do something with the US Office and it felt like we shouldn’t go the whole series without them connecting,” says show-runner Paul Lieberstein.

Gervais’ appearance was apparently shot in September, but kept mum by producers until now. The episode titled “The Seminar” is expected to air next week, January 27th.

“It’s outside of the office, and it’s just the two of them interacting,” adds Lieberstein. “It’s just a little nod to Steve and his final year.”
