Sam Raimi recently dropped the name of Warcraft’s screenwriter in an interview with MTV. Robert Rodat, who wrote “Saving Private Ryan” and “The Patriot,” is set to pen the incredibly ambitious game-to-film adaptation of “Warcraft.”
Clearly, Raimi sees talent in Rodat as he acknowledged that he has never made a video game movie before. But his approach “would be to work with the best character writer I can find, which in this case is Robert Rodat, and tell a great character story.”
The film’s plot will be entirely original contrary to previous reports that it will be based off existing Warcraft novelisations. “Warcraft” is still in early planning stages and most likely on Raimi’s back burner. For now, he has his plate full with a little flick known as “Spider-Man 4.”
