It’s hard to imagine that there’s still life to be found in the Jurassic Park franchise, but there’s no way that Universal is going to pass up the chance to seek more profit from one of its most valuable IP’s. Colin Trevorrow had previously said that the best path forward after the most recent trilogy would be to focus on the people who are living in a world where they now have to co-exist with dinosaurs. It’s an interesting concept, and it could make for some very interesting storytelling. While we don’t know if that’s the direction they are heading in for the new film, we do know who will be directing it.
It’s now being reported that the studio was unable to make a deal with David Leitch, but in his absence, they may have scored a coup with Star Wars: Rogue One director, Gareth Edwards. The Creator director is not new to giant creatures. He first gained popularity with his film Monsters, and he also directed the first Godzilla film from the current Legendary Films Kaijuverse.
While there are no details about what will happen in the film, we do know that it will be all new stories with all new characters, and that you won’t be seeing people like Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, or Jeff Goldblum.
