Nick Toons fans are in for what sounds like the combination of dream come true and potential nightmare fuel. Nickelodeon has announced that Rugrats is coming back in multiple projects. On the animated side of things, we’ll be seeing a new 26-episode series. Meanwhile, Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica will also be coming to life as CGI characters in a live action film that sounds like it could be designed to send kids to therapy.

Here’s what Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon, had to say about the new series:

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures. What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

There’s no detail on the movie as of yet, but we wait with just a tinge of fear in our hearts.
