When we first heard that Matrix 4 was happening, we were a little confused. After all, both Neo and Trinity died in the third film, effectively completing the full story arc. Now, with both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss returning to reprise their roles, there’s a lot of explaining to do.
In a new report from Wegothiscovered, we have our first real potential plot details about the upcoming film. Now, none of this is confirmed, nor will it probably be confirmed until the film hits theaters this December 21st, so take all of this info with a heaping grain of salt.
According to the report, the film takes places 60 years after the events of the original trilogy. The machines and humans are still living under the truce that was brokered by Neo and they have been able to leave zion and establish some level of symbiotic existence with the machines. However, when Neo returns in search of the love of his life, that truce is threatened. Though she clearly died in Matrix Revolutions, it now appears that Trinity has been reborn and is living as a married woman, with a child named Tiffany. If we had to guess, we’d put money on Tiffany being the child of Neo and Trinity, and probably the key to the future of all beings both human and machine. With Neo’s return seemingly throwing a big monkeywrench into the truce between humans and machines, will he be viewed as the hero or the villain of the story?
