Several sites are reporting on a news release from the publication Caribbean Business about a reported announcement that a Fifth Pirates of the Caribbean film will begin filming this November on Puerto Rico.
Here’s the announcement:
“Disney just confirmed that they have picked Puerto Rico over Hawaii,” Puerto Rico Film Commission Executive Director Mariella Pérez said. The site added that filming is expected to begin in November.
Now, there are some rumors that Terry Rossio, the screenwriter for Stranger Tides, had actually turned in a script last year, but there’s been no word on it since. Disney has also come out today to say that the film is still in development.
On Stranger Tides filmed portions of the movie in Puerto Rico, but the majority of it was done in Hawaii. It starred Johnny Depp, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin R. McNally, Astrid Berges-Frisbey, Sam Claflin and Geoffrey Rush.
