Overall, the Disney Live-Action remakes have been pretty meh. They are often times not as good as the originals, or even close to as good as them. And, the CGI that is used in them often feels dated, even by the time the film hits the big screen. There is a lot of great buzz around Mulan, but we have no idea when that film is actually going to hit theaters.
Today, THR announced that Avengers: Endgame Directors, Joe and Anthony Russo have signed on to produce Disney’s Live-Action ‘Hercules’ remake via their production company, ABGO. They will not be directing the film, however. Writing the script is Dave Callaham, the man who wrote the first Expendables film as well as the screenplay for Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
he studio has hired Dave Callaham, the action scribe who launched The Expendables franchise and wrote Marvel’s upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, to pen the script.
There is no word on casting at this point in development, but rumors recently started swirling online after Ariana Grande’s performance of the movie’s “I Won’t Say I’m In Love” during The Disney Family Singalong that she could be up for, or at least campaigning for, the role of Megara. As for the role of Hercules, there have been some rumors about Ryan Gosling taking the role with Idris Elba potentially up for Hades. While it is very rare that a voice from the animated original gets cast for the same role in the live-action remake, we can’t imagine anyone better than Danny DeVito to play Phil.
