What we seem to have here is the making of a dream team. That usually ends in either magic or complete disaster. In this case, we are definitely rootin for magic. Deadline is reporting that Ryan Reynolds has signed on to star in a new Monster comedy for Universal. This movie is based on a short story by Simon Rich (Miracle Workers, Man Seeking Woman, American Pickle), is going to be directed by Paddington Helmer, Paul King, and is going to be produced by Lord & Miller (Lego Movie, Last Man On Earth, Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse).

The original essay that spawned the film was a simple bit of parenting advice for how to handle it when your child is worried about monsters under their bed, during a time when there is an actual monster uprising happening in the real world. In the essay, it says this:

The creature pandemic has unleashed the likes of Gorgog the Annihilator, Ctharga the Eater of Souls, and a “giant, swirling portal in the sky that looks like a screaming mouth” that is simply called Drain of Ga.

We are probably 3-5 years from ‘Everyday Parenting Tips’ becoming a reality, but it’s hard not to get excited about the possibilities.
