Saoirse Ronan, who was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her 2009 role in Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones,” has been cast in Jackson’s upcoming fantasy epic “The Hobbit.”
We’re unsure what role Ronan will play, but she is listed alongside fellow Irish actors Aidan Turner and James Nesbitt. Here is what casting director Ros Hubbard said to The Irish Film & Television Network:
“[W]orking with Peter Jackson is like working with a family. So they’ll have a great time. Saoirse’s family will go too. Everyone is very close and very loving on those sorts of jobs. It’s not like typical studio movies at all.”
Ronan had appeared in the acclaimed 2007 film “Atonement” and will star in the upcoming thriller “Hanna” with Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett as a teenage assassin!
Earlier we wrote about “The Hobbit” being delayed due to Jackson’s medical emergency with a perforated ulcer. Jackson is now recovering from surgery and production is expected to resume in New Zealand shortly.
