SDCC may have kicked off yesterday, but it official began this morning and what a way to start the appearance of both Will Ferrell, Tina Fey and… I suppose Jonah Hill (just kidding) to promote their new super villain 3D animated film “Megamind.”
Ferrell lit up the crowd who had been in line since six in the morning to attend the epic Hall H panel by coming out in “costume.” He was later joined by Tina Fey and Jonah Hill. The rumors of Brad Pitt making an appearance were half true. Because someone needed to watch the kids, Pitt was unable to make the panel. In his replacement however was a nice cardboard cut out of him, in a tux!
Fans were shown some footage and it was revealed that a twist occurs with Hill’s character, although he did not go into specifics.
“Megamind” is no “Toy Story 3,” but it retains a Ferrel humor that we’ve all grown to either love or loath. The new footage shown wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t mind blowing. Heck, let’s face it, half the people that showed up were probably there just waiting for Disney’s “Tron: Legacy” that followed.
