In part two of the Jeph Loeb hosted Marvel television panel, Loeb began to discuss Marvel animated shows, namely the upcoming “Ultimate Spider-Man” and the popular “Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”
Loeb shows us a slide of Spider-Ham and jokes about how we’re not suppose to see that. He then announces that Paul Dini (Batman: The Animated Series) was going to be writing the series along with Joe Kelly, Joe Casey, Duncan Rouleau and Steven Seagle. Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis will also contribute
We’re then we were shown some footage from “Ultimate Spider-Man” that included behind-the-scene stuff as well as introductions by Stan Lee and Joe Quesada. Stan Lee is said to have a recurring role in the show as the High School janitor. The trailer shows Spider-man fighting Electro, then Venom, followed by Doctor Doom.
Artists who are said to have influenced the look of the show include: Stuart Immonen, Humberto Ramos, Ed McGuinness and Joe Quesada. Overall, I’m loving the new new look and feel. Loeb seems very proud of what they’ve done bringing “Ultimate Spider-Man” to life and it will be a lot different than all the other Spider-Man cartoons of the past. Also fans can expect a “Spider-Ham” episode that was inspiration by the late Mike Wieringo.
Up next we’re told that Astonishing X-Men is the most recent title currently being developed by Marvel Knights Animation (Don’t get too excited, this is basically a motion comic). Paul Dini hints that he’d love to see a Hulk series and we’re shown images of Hulk, Red Hulk, Slaar, Abomination and She-Hulk. Apparently “Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.” is being developed at Disney XD!
Lastly, the second season of “Avengers: Earths Mightiest Heroes” is coming. They’re all hard at work on it and we’re shown the season two premiere featuring a team up between the Avengers and the Fantastic Four!
