Vanessa Hudgens took a big step away from High School Musical with her role in Suckerpunch. Now, her Disney alum, is following her in a film that should make a pretty clear distinction that they’ve both moved on to the next phase of their career. Well, I supposed that one way to get away from the stigma of being a Disney star is to do a film with the guy who made “Kids”.
Joining them in Spring Breakers is James Franco, Rachel Korine and Ashley Benson. The film, which is directed by Harmony Korine tells the story of four college co-eds who rob a fast food restaurant so they can go to Spring Break in Florida. They get busted, but a friendly neighborhood drug dealer (franco) bails them out on condition that they kill someone for them. I’m guessing that is when “Sh!t gets real”. It has been a long time since I’ve seen Korine’s first film, “Kids”, but if Spring Breakers is 1/100th as screwed up as that movie is… it will definitely be a new cinematic experience for Gomez… let’s just say this is no Waverly Place.
