Comingsoon.net sat down with Shia LaBeouf recently to talk about Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. during their chat, the subject of Y: The Last Man came up and star Shia LaBeouf, who has been under consideration to play the title character in a movie based on the graphic novel Y: The Last Man, told Wired magazine that he’s no longer interested in the part.
LaBeouf’s Eagle Eye/Disturbia director D.J. Caruso had been touting LaBeouf as the perfect guy to play Yorick Brown, the last man on Earth and the survivor of a plague that has wiped out all males. Carl Ellsworth wrote the screenplay adaptation of Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra’s epic graphic-novel series.
“You take Sam and you put a monkey on his shoulder,” said LaBeouf of Yorick’s sidekick Ampersand. “I don’t know if it’s that big a differential. It seems like he’s the ordinary guy in an extraordinary situation again.”
He added, “I’m not willing to make that movie currently, and may be too old to play the role by the time it does come around.”
