During a talk at the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea, Bryan Singer confirmed that open dialogue between him and Fox has opened regarding his possible return to the X-Men franchise.
“I’m still looking to possibly returning to the X-Men franchise. I’ve been talking to Fox about it,” said Singer who who started the X-Men franchise and has been rumored with a return since the announcement of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and even the new youth-centric spinoff “X-Men: First Class.”
With a possible X-Men 4 now in the works and his man crush on Hugh Jackman, there is a chance Singer might be hinting that he would like to return to the franchise he once abandoned. As fans know, Singer left the X-trilogy to direct WB’s “Superman Returns.” The cynic in me believes that now Superman is a doomed project, Singer has no choice but to crawl back to the mutant franchise that earned him his millions.
While it’s still too soon to say whether Singer will return, if he were I’m sure Fox and X-Fans would welcome him back with open arms. Because if we’ve learned anything from this ordeal it’s that Brett Ratner can’t direct and “X3: The Last Stand” was god awful.
