Zachary Quinto of “Star Trek” is reportedly interested in using his newly found Spock fame to find new gigs that doesn’t take place in space. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he is close to singing a deal to star in a romantic-comedy called “Whirligig.”
“Whirligig” tells the story of a man who becomes friends with the adopted son of the older lady he’s trying to seduce. It’s reported that Quinto is hoping to keep his options open, as well as picking projects more low-key.
With “Star Trek 2” shooting sometime in 2010, the last thing he needs is to draw too much attention to himself or god forbid get himself typecast as a no good MILF chaser much like Trek co-star, John Cho, of “MILF” infamy.
Chaz Thorne is set to direct “Whirligig,” which is seeking to begin filming early next year.
