THR is reporting that Billy Dee Williams is set to reprise the role of Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX. The rumor has been floating around for a while now, but the report seems to make it official. This won’t be Williams’ first return to the franchise as he’s voiced Lando in video games and in Star Wars Rebels.
JJ Abrams is keeping tight-lipped about any details on the return, but we have a guess. There’s a good chance that he’ll re-enter the story as an attendee to General Leia Organa’s funeral. There’s a good chance that his appearance will be limited to that scene. However, there’s also a chance that his particular skills could be called on as the Resistance is now in dire need of supplies and other items that are probably best procured via the black market.
