Star Wars Episode VII to Start Filming January 2014

Speaking recently at the PGA-Sponsored “Produced By” conference this weekend, Star Wars producer-director J.J. Abrams provided new details regarding the much anticipated upcoming Star Wars movie. According to Abrams, Star Wars Episode VII will begin filming in January 2014 and that preparations were already underway.

“Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie,” explains Abrams.

He also assured Star Wars fans that he would acknowledge previous films, but at the same time he wanted to make a new movie that was not held hostage by the past.

“I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before.”

The new Star Wars movie will be penned by Michael Arndt, who is the Oscar winning writer who has worked on popular movies Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3.

Lucas loyalist should be happy to hear that George Lucas will be serving as a consultant on the new movie, but will give Abrams as much leeway as he wants to reinvent the space opera franchise.

Star Wars VII is set for release in the summer of 2015.
