Star Wars: Obi-Wan TV Series Timeline Announced

Last week, Star Wars fans got the news they’ve been wanting to hear for years. Ewan McGregor is coming back to reprise his role as Obi-Wan for a story about his time in hiding between Revenge of The Sith and the first Star Wars film, A New Hope.

It was announced at D23 that he won’t be getting a movie, but he will be getting his own TV series on Disney+. We also learned from Kathleen Kennedy that all of the scripts for the show are complete and production is set to begin next year. Now, we are getting some new news on the timeline of the show. It looks like the Obi-Wan series will take place 8 years after the events of Revenge of The Sith and 11 years before Star Wars: A New Hope.

So, what does this mean in terms of the current Star Wars canon? Well, It Luke Skywalker is alive and well, and just around 8 years old. Meanwhile, Han Solo is putting around the galaxy with the Empire and Lando is still the proud owner of the Millennium Falcon. Does that mean we’ll see Donald Glover with a cameo in the new series? I’d bet money that we will not. With that said, it wouldn’t be a major suprise to see Paul Bettany or Emilia Clarke reprise their roles as Dryden Vos and Qi’Ra from the Solo film.

This also seems to fall in line with the same timeline for Star Wars Rebels. If that’s true, it’s possible that we might get to see a live-action take on the final meeting between Obi-Wan and Darth Maul, which played out on the series.
