Star Wars – ‘Taika Waititi’ To Direct New Film With 1917 Writer

It’s a May 4th miracle! Star Wars day started off great. We got an epic finale to Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Disney+, but this is the icing on the blue-milk icing cake!

It has now officially been confirmed that Jojo Rabbit/ Thor: Love and Thunder director, Taika Waititi has enjoyed dipping his toe into the Star Wars universe so much during The Mandalorian, that the Oscar winner has officially signed on to direct an upcoming movie set in a galaxy far, far away.

There are no details as of yet on the new film, other than the fact that he’s got a brilliant screenwriter on tap by way of fellow Oscar Winner, 1917’s Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

There’s no word on what kind of Star Wars film Waititi will be making, and whether it will be a more serious or light-hearted movie. If it leans towards the latter, we’ve always loved the idea of a Tag and Bink film adaptation.
