‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Wraps… Without Crisis!

Something happened at Lucasfilm today for the very first time since new Star Wars films have started production. A film finished without incident, major reshoots, or a replacement of the creative team. Much of the credit for this goes to director Rian Johnson. Interestingly, Johnson was allegedly invited to take over Episode IX after Colin Trevorrow was removed from the film, but he declined.

The reason this is such a big deal is because chaos seems to be the rule of the day when it comes to Star Wars films, lately. The Force Awakens had major Re-shoots, Josh Trank was fired early on based on Fan4stick, Rogue One had a complete re-shoot of the film’s third act, The Han Solo movie saw Lord and Miller fired and replaced by Ron Howard who is now trying to fix what he can and save as much as possible from what ever’s been shot, and Colin Trevorrow was removed from Episode IX and replaced with Episode VII director, JJ Abrams.

That means that the latest installment of the Star Wars universe, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, is sitting on a hard drive somewhere, where Disney and Lucasfilm need only keep it safe from hackers for the next three months before they release it and earn themselves another billion dollars or so. In the meantime, it is looking more and more likely that we’ll be getting the next trailer on or around early October, thanks to a tweet from Mark Hamill (that has since been deleted).

Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars: Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Carrie Fisher, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Anthony Daniels, Benicio Del Toro, and Laura Dern.
