‘Stargate: Universe’ Officially Canceled By Syfy

Following the demise of “Caprica,” Syfy has announced that “Stargate: Universe’ has been officially canceled.

“Stargate: Universe” was the latest in the Stargate TV franchise which included “Stargate SG-1” and “Stargate: Atlantis.” “SGU” was always intended to be a more darker and edgier show, but it never took off with fans nor did it deliver the sci-fi and thematic complexity its producers had promised.

The series, starred Robert Carlyle, Lou Diamond Phillips and Ming-Na, will officially end its run after the upcoming second season, which consists of 10 episodes and is still scheduled to air in Spring 2011.

For most, this comes as no surprise. At least certainly not for me since I don’t even watch this series. Rest assure Stargates fans, this probably won’t be the last “Stargate” series to air on Syfy.
